21st September: Postponed  Intellect’s annual Cloud Computing Roadmap conference will be held at the offices of the lawyers Allen & Overy in London.  Please watch this space for a new date.

11th August 2011:

Richard recorded a 45 minute webcast jointly with Muriel Wren of SAP on the topic of Operating Successes with Fine Tuned Teams. The webcast was a joint initiative of SAP and CIO Magazine and will be released in the early autumn.

26th July 2011:

Richard spoke at the fourth of the four Cloud Computing Discussions sponsored by Intellect, designed to lead to Intellect’s annual Cloud Computing Roadmap conference on 21st September. The focus of the Discussion was Reworking the Vendor Landscape – what are the Transformational Challenges? and Richard’s presentation can be accessed here

17th - 20th July 2011:

Richard worked in Dhaka, Bangladesh as strategic advisor to a project to promote Bangladesh as a competitive offshoring location. The initiative is being lead by the International Trade Centre (ITC), a joint venture of the WTO and the UN. 

7th July 2011:

Richard chaired the UNICOM conference Process Improvement Forum 2011: Global Trends in Process Improvement at Queensway Hall in London.

27th June 2011:

Richard spoke at a joint British Computer Society Elite/ City University School of Informatics event on the IT Industry Skills Shortage. His presentation can be accessed here.

Richard chaired two afternoon sessions of The Cloud Computing World Forum 2011.

Richard spoke at the first of four Cloud Computing Discussions sponsored by Intellect, designed to lead to Intellect’s annual Cloud Computing Roadmap conference on 21st September. The focus of the Discussion was Mapping the Issues facing the Buyers and Suppliers and Richard’s presentation can be accessed here

23rd February 2011:

27th January 2011:

Richard chaired a 45 minute webinar for CISCO on the Public Sector Cloud - The Big Debate  featuring John Suffolk (the retiring UK Government CIO), David Wilde (Westminster Council CIO) and Andy Macleod (Strategy and Policy Public Sector, CISCO). The webinar can be accessed here.

11th January 2011:

Richard was elected to chair the Trustees of Cubitt Artists, a long-established artist-run cooperative based in Islington, London.

13th December 2010:

Richard attended the initial meeting of the advisory board of the Institute of Composition at the invitation of the British composer, John Woolrich. Chaired by Professor Chris Jenks, Vice Chancellor of Brunel University, the Institute is intended as a focus for the development of the contemporary composer.

30th November 2010:

Richard joined a panel on the issues surrounding the UK Government Cloud project at the Business Cloud Summit 2010, Earls Court Conference Centre.

6th November 2010:

Richard lectured at the Cass Business School for the City University’s new Master in Information Leadership programme on the issue of Organisational Professionalism. His presentation material can be read here. He has accepted an invitation to join the University’s Centre for Information Leadership External Advisory Panel.

17th – 22nd October 2010:

Richard took part in the Leading Edge Forum’s study tour in Silicon Valley Surf the Change or be Swept Away – Consumerisation, Mobility and the Cloud. The 30-strong working group of senior European & US IT leadership travelled the Valley in a WiFi enabled bus with very comfortable leather seats to visit a range of key players including Jive, salesforce.com., Google, EMC, Amazon, cohesiveFT, obopay, Cloudera, VeriSign, Facebook and Paypal.

14th October 2010:

Richard spoke at Nabarro’s technology seminar on the topic “Navigating the Triple Transformation”. His presentation can be read here.

13th October 2010:

Richard made the case for Outcome Based Agreements (OBAs) at Intellect’s Outsourcing & Offshoring Group round table discussion Achieving the Outcome – The case for and against Outcome Based Agreements.

12th October 2010:

Richard made a presentation 'Seeking 'Edge' from a Technology Sector In Motion: Challenge & Opportunity for the Contemporary CIO' to a CIO workshop hosted by Sopra Group at London’s Royal Opera House Crush Bar!

5th October 2010:

Richard spoke at Intellect’s conference on The Cloud Computing Future on the topic “The Sourcing Balance – In-house vs 'the Cloud'”. His presentation can be read here.

1st October 2010:

Richard was elected to chair the TMMi Foundation at a board meeting in Dublin. The Foundation promotes the new TMMi (Test Maturity Model integration) framework. In accepting his election as chair, Richard said "I welcome this opportunity to contribute to the development of this important initiative. As we move into an ever greater dependence on the capabilities of contemporary technology in most of what we do in our daily and business lives, the need to create new software and systems that are Quality, that fully meet requirements from the start, is a genuine imperative. And in the fast growing world of the virtual this imperative rules even more strongly - how else can we work with confidence and assurance, as an industry, in delivering the operations of complex virtual service value chains.”

21st September 2010:

Richard spoke at Inside Government’s Forum on Cloud Computing: Transforming ICT Delivery on the topic Now is the Time for Proactive Market Making . His presentation can be read here.

7th September 2010:

Richard spoke at South Africa’s annual GovTech conference and trade show in Durban on the topic of “Government Technology: Two Key Perspectives for the New Decade”. His presentation can be read here.

October 2009 – August 2010

Richard advised Phase 2 of the UK Government’s G-Cloud and Apps Store initiative as a member of the Commercial Work Stream. Richard served pro bono as part of an Intellect/Cabinet Office initiated exercise.

26th August 2010

Richard spoke at a meeting of the Scottish IT Directors Forum in Edinburgh at the Standard Life offices on the topic “The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse Transforming Business Models “. His presentation can be read here.

Richard attended the 2nd Cloud Computing World Forum in London. He chaired the event on 30th June.

24th June 2010:

Richard made a presentation 'Seeking 'Edge' from a Technology Sector In Motion: Challenge & Opportunity for the Contemporary CIO' to a CIO workshop hosted by Sopra Group in Edinburgh.

25th-28th April 2010:

Richard attended the 2nd Arab Outsourcing Conference & Expo 2010 at the Jumeirah Beach Hotel, Dubai on behalf one of his clients, the sourcing consultants Alsbridge. He delivered a Master Class on Cloud Computing & CloudSourcing and also chaired the second day of the Conference.

15th-17th February 2010:

Richard attended the IAOP (International Association of Outsourcing Professionals World Summit in Florida. He spoke on the topic: Refocusing the Human Contribution: Automation in the Cloud Transforms IT Services Business Models. His presentation can be viewed here.

10th February 2010:

Richard visited 'Southern Manufacturing & Electronics 2010' at Farnborough for the day:

December 2009:

Business Management published an article that Richard wrote for Steria focused on the 'new testing', the Steria partnership with the specialist testing consultancy Experimentus  and the importance of the new TMMI standards. Titled 'Prevention rather than cure is key to winning in today's highly competitive market'  the article can be read here
